Zyranna Zateli was born in 1951, in Sochos, a small village near Thessaloniki. She spent a few years travelling abroad and then moved to Athens where she now lives. Previously an actor, a radio producer, Zateli published her first book, Last Year’s Fiancée. In 1993 she was awarded the National Book Award for her novel, At Twilight They Return, a long seller in Greece. In 2002, she was anew awarded the National Book Award and in 2010 she was praised for her contribution to Greece’s literature. Her works have been translated in many languages.
