Eugenia Fakinou was born in Alexandria, Egypt in 1945. She entered the literary world as a graphic designer and a writer of children’s books. And she was widely embraced by the Greek public after creating Ntenekedoupoli puppet show. From 1982 onwards she has been writing fiction for adults. In 2005 she was awarded the Readers’ Prize by the National Center for the Book, for her novel Orleans Method and in 2008 with the National Short Story Award for her collection Garden Ambitions. Being one of the most accomplished writers in Greece, many of her novels have been translated into English, French, German, Spanish, Russian, Hungarian, Serbian and Danish.
