Nine writers were invited to capture Greek reality through their own perspective — the reality they consider unseen or blurred to the uninitiated. Nine photographers present their personal view of the image of the Greek experience in a tone that is ecstatic, ironic, harsh, and at times romantic.
The original idea for the book arose from the gap that always opens between the image we have of ourselves and the way others see us. Of particular interest is also the viewpoint of Greek writers regarding the image they believe Greece projects to the outside world.
Through the winding paths of writing and the camera lens — beyond literary and artistic fixations — the result reveals how Greece disappoints those who would wish to love it madly.
