Manolis, in his twenties, was idling endlessly in front of his television. One day he hears about the death of an old friend’s father whom he hadn’t seen in a very long time. When he visits the family to pay his respects he learns that his friend is now living an ascetic life on an island, and the woman who was the love of his life, is married.
Manolis finds his friend and they travel together across Greece looking for his father. Along the way, they meet odd and crazy people and finally find the father in Mount Athos. Was it religion, confusion, or fear that pushed him to take refuge there?
In a dry style, with a dark sense of humour, Christidis creates believable anti-heroes in his strong characters. Their emptiness represents the senselessness of people living on the edge without their knowing it.
