George Chatzivasileiou

Dr. George Chatzivasileiou is a Greek philosopher, journalist, and award-winning documentary filmmaker specializing in the ontology, ethics, and societal implications of AI and emerging technologies. He holds a Ph.D. in Philosophy of Technology and a Master’s degree in Political Philosophy from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. His academic work has been published in philosophical journals, and he previously served as Chief Editor of the journal Antilogos (Eurasia).

His bestselling and award-winning book Philosophy of Artificial Intelligence – A Journey into the Future(Dioptra, 2023) is the first major Greek work in the field. It is taught at six major universities, adopted into Cyprus’s national exams, and received wide media attention for its accessible yet philosophically rigorous approach.

He bridges scholarship and public engagement as a frequent speaker at universities, conferences, cultural institutions, and media. He writes as columnist and technology-policy analyst for leading Greek newspapers, including To Vima, Athens Voice, and Ta Nea. As a journalist and a documentary creator, he has collaborated with major Greek media outlets. His documentary series Animated Philosophers for the Public Television of Greece (ERT), brings complex philosophical ideas to general audiences.
