279 BC: The Gauls, led by their warlord Brennus, launch a campaign against Greece with the aim of conquering it. They are determined to reach the Peloponnese, and nothing can stop them, not even the brave men waiting for them at Thermopylae. Meanwhile, in the city of Thermo in Aetolia, a woman who refuses to be a victim of fate, Helen, wife of General Callinus, will stain her hands with blood to avenge the brutal rape of her brother Cleomedes. A manhunt is launched in the mountains of Aetolia to capture the murderer and punish her exemplarily. But as the Galatians approach and the gods in the wings plot relentlessly, everything will be turned upside down, sweeping away age-old certainties and deeply rooted prejudices. A story about women who defended their families and homes. A story that was silenced, concealed for religious and patriarchal reasons, and forgotten over the centuries.
