Beatrice Saias-Magrizou

Beatrice (Betty) Saias-Magrizou was born in Thessaloniki and lives in Larisa. She is married and has a daughter. She studied economics at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and is a qualified optician. Her published works include five novels, two fairy-tale books and plays. She wrote the screenplay for the film Abraham-Alberto, which was shown in Thessaloniki in 2006 on Holocaust Memorial Day. Her texts are taught at the Modern Greek Department of the University of Padova. She was invited to present her work at Selwyn College, Cambridge. She works with literary magazines and Larisa Municipal Radio, where she used to host a weekly programme. Her novel The Fire Bracelet was adapted for television and is being broadcast as a series on ERT, the National Greek Television, directed by Giorgos Gikapeppas, with the screenplay written by Nikos Apeiranthitis and Sofia Sotiriou. It is the first Greek series that will feature on TV5.
